Thesis Defense Session. The thesis defense is the final part of a several-year undergraduate program. The thesis demonstrates how much a student has been able to acquire skills in their field of study. On the other hand, defending a topic related to the student's academic discipline in the presence of professors who have been teaching this subject for years encourages the student to approach research with more courage, determination, and diligence. The Faculty of Law and Political Science at Goharshad University aims to provide a platform for practical education and create an environment for students' opinions to be heard through organizing thesis defense sessions.

One of the areas for capacity building for students is the organization of seminars and specialized workshops, which can create opportunities for students to understand and implement their ideas. The Faculty of Management has endeavored to establish and develop new business capacities for students by designing and implementing capacity-building programs. In this regard, on May 3, 2023, the Faculty of Management at Goharshad University organized a seminar on successful business startup methods in the conference hall of Goharshad University. In the section on stages of successful business startup, Professor Askari discussed having an attractive idea, writing a vision statement, validating the idea, planning for the business, starting with a small and simple task, securing financial matters, choosing a simple and fluent brand name, locating the business premises, expanding the team, selecting intelligent and tasteful individuals, receiving feedback from customers, being patient, focusing on target markets, taking advertising seriously, searching for customers through word-of-mouth referrals and having an internet page for advertising as necessary aspects. He also emphasized that the following factors can be extremely important for stability and development in business: 1) precise planning; 2) professional behavior with respect to attracting customers; 3) gratitude for achievements; 4) not listening to negative comments such as "you can't do it," "it will cause damage," "it's impossible," etc.; 5) staying up-to-date with technology; 6) personal growth; 7) not being afraid of obstacles and thinking about solutions. Conversations on humanities began with the initiative of the Faculty of Law and Political Science at Goharshad University. These sessions, which aim to enhance the scientific capacity of students, hold discussions on important social, economic, legal, and political topics. In one of these sessions, Professor Abdolhamid Arefi, the academic and teaching deputy of Goharshad University, gave a lecture on the rule of law. He stated that the rule of law ensures permanent security, stability, and order in society. In other words, in societies where law and legalism prevail, all disputes between citizens and legal entities are resolved through the law, and solutions to all conflicts are sought in the country's applicable laws. Everyone obeys the laws and respects them without personal interests or preferences. In such a society, it can be claimed that sovereignty belongs to the law because there is no will above the law in rule-of-law societies, and no will beyond the law is conceivable. In any society, rulers must also consider themselves bound by obedience to the law. On the other hand, laws are enacted in order to meet legitimate demands and legal desires of citizens. In this way, justice will be established in the best possible manner. That is why it is emphasized that all public freedoms and individual and social rights in society should be enshrined in laws and specifically reflected in constitutional laws of countries. Of course, it should also be noted that for the rule of law to exist, a powerful executive branch that is independent and competent in matters related to laws is required; individuals who possess qualifications and responsibilities derived from the law itself. In such a society, it is laws that guarantee protection and preservation of people's rights and freedoms equally for everyone. Therefore, with the existence of laws and their governance in countries, there should be no concern for anyone about their rights being violated or lost.

Conversations in the field of humanities; Introduction to a book. In this session, Dr. Mohammad Ali Akhlaghi, the president of Goharshad University, introduced one of the important and necessary books for law students, emphasizing the importance of books and reading.

Introduction of the book author: The author of the book, Dr. Jamshid Motaz, is one of the most famous international lawyers. While being a professor at Tehran University, he also has teaching experience at Sorbonne, Caen, and Grenoble universities in France, as well as Geneva University, Columbia University, and universities in the United Arab Emirates. He was also selected to teach at The Hague Academy of International Law. Being a legal advisor to the International Red Cross Committee and a member of the editorial board of the International Human Rights Yearbook in Holland are other parts of his academic resume. He is fluent in both French and English and was a member of the International Law Commission from 2000 to 2006 and served as its chairman in 2005.

B) Introduction to the book chapters: This book is organized into four chapters. The first chapter discusses the sources of human rights in armed internal conflicts, the second chapter describes various types of armed internal conflicts, the third chapter focuses on the obligations of conflicting parties in armed internal conflicts, and finally, the fourth chapter deals with implementing human rights in armed internal conflicts.
c) The situation of human rights in internal armed conflicts: Internal wars have always been considered an internal matter of countries, and governments have always tried to maintain this status quo. Given that both international law makers and followers of international law are states, they were not willing to extend the scope of human rights within their territories. Therefore, international documents in this regard are limited. For example, while there are over 600 legal provisions regarding international armed conflicts, there is only one common Article 3 and a second Additional Protocol related to internal armed conflicts. This situation has led to the formation of two separate systems in the field of human rights.

d) Developments resulting from the development of human rights and the inclusion of internal armed conflicts in it:
1. Development of the concept of non-state armed threats and a new interpretation by the Security Council.
2. Establishment of international and regional criminal courts.
3. Recovery of customary law.
4. Importance given to judicial procedures.
5. Transformation in the position of individuals in international law.
6. Transformation in the concept of sovereignty.
